Styling the seasons with Laura Ashley & win a £50 gift card

018There’s something about the beginning of a new season that gets me itching to give our home a bit of a makeover. I don’t mean a big one (I’ve had my fill of building work here, thank you very much!), but freshening up our space with bright new home and kitchen accessories that put a spring (pardon the pun) in my step.

It’s little, relatively inexpensive purchases that feel like a big treat. Some people get their kicks from new shoes, and whilst I never say no to a pair of KGs, I get my kicks from jazzing up my home.

When Laura Ashley contacted me to see if i’d like to select some of their SS16 Homeware to have, and to style, I was giddy with excitement- it’s such a great brand, and their latest home collection is right up my street. Bright colours that are easily interchangeable using our predominantly grey and white walls as a background, plus so many nods to spring, the sea and easy-yet-luxurious entertaining, I could have made house room for almost everything I was offered!

Here are my picks if you’d like to take a look?

026

I’ve been looking for a new alternative to our usual glass vases for a while now, and wanted something that would suit both our kitchen, and also the shelf in our living room. I absolutely love how this green ceramic jug ‘pops’ against the grey of our living room walls, and really compliments the spring tulips. I have big plans for this little jug, and can’t wait to fill it with gypsophelia, bluebells from the garden, and the last remaining daffs of the season!

Spring and summer time is all about fresh juices! There’s something about freshly squeezed orange juice whilst having breakfast alfresco that reminds me of being on holiday. If I close my eyes tightly enough, we could almost be in the med (and not just inside the M25!). This fab juicer has been a big hit in our family, and Freddie (5) and Sasha (nearly 4) have been delighted at being able to make their own juice. It sounds silly, but it’s actually made them realise where juice actually comes from, and not just a carton from the supermarket. Thumbs up all round here!

These coloured glass jars, complete with easy-access screw top and straws are the perfect way to serve drinks at a summer BBQ. I was slightly worried that I would be verging in to dodgy hipster territory with these, but actually they’ve gone down a storm at a few gathering we’ve had, and really help prevent any later-in-the-evening-cocktail-induced-spills!

081

You know how some people have Christmas mugs? (Well I do anyway!) These gorgeous, nautical-inspired ones are definitely my summer ones. They’ve been making me smile whilst I read my book and have a much-needed cup of tea on a weekend morning. I love the fact that they’re on the generous-size too- no one likes a teeny cuppa!

088093

My new pride and joy in the kitchen is this AMAZING framed ‘Great British Food Map’, showing where classic dishes come from. It’s been a huge talking point when we’ve had visitors, with lots of people complimenting it. A real show piece as it’s a decent size (76cm x 62cm). My immature self still sniggers inside every time I see ‘Dorset Knob’! <childish>

033098106

…and last but by no means least, this ace mussels pot, that I actually don’t think we can live without now. Adam and I have had a few ‘posh’ lunches and suppers using this pot- some mussels in white wine sauce, crusty bread and salted butter, with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc has fast become one of my favourite spring meals! It looks so great too, and I’m giving it house-room to display on our dresser. This does not deserve to be hidden away!

So out of my choices what do you like the best? I’d love to hear!
