My New Habitat Tatsuma Dressing Table of Dreams

This is an interiors post I’ve meaning to write for a while now, and from a personal point of view have been so excited about sharing! A couple of months ago Habitat were kind enough to send me a dressing table of my choice from their collection, and the reason I’m so (possibly disproportionately!) excited is because I have wanted a dressing table for what feels like YEARS, and haven’t actually had one since I was a teenager living at home.

All through uni, in house shares, and even in our previous own flat and house I spent every day just doing my make up on my bed using a hand mirror, which is fine until you end up spilling foundation or bronzer on your bed sheets! It also meant I didn’t really have anywhere to actually store any of my beauty products, so just used to end up with them kicking around in a make up bag by the side of my bed, which isn’t really ideal, especially when you get a little anal about things being organised (as I do).

In our old house, there wasn’t room in our first bedroom for a separate dressing table, and then when we had our loft conversion done and subsequently had a whopper of a room, we decided to move, so I didn’t get round to buying one then. In our new house though, our bedroom is still pretty large, and therefore we’ve finally had room for a dressing table after all these years. So when Habitat approached me, I couldn’t wait to choose a dressing table that would compliment our newly decorated bedroom.

After browsing the site, I decided on the Tatsuma dressing table. I LOVED the kind of scandi/mid-century look of it, and thought the white would really ‘pop’ against the grey background of the walls. I’m also quite a big ‘wood’ fan when it comes to furniture (sounds weird but to me it makes sense!), so I was really sold by the look of the deep walnut legs against the white too- they really compliment each other.

The Tatsuma has plenty of space to house my make up brushes, my wire beauty basket from the Sainsbury’s Ethreal Range, a succulent and some candles. Adam also tries to put our TV on it as he thinks it’s in a great position to watch TV in bed but I am resisting! It also has a nice, deep drawer to house any other beauty bits and bobs, and I’m currently awaiting the arrival of some clear plastic storage dividers from Muji to hold the rest of my make up and so I can keep it nice and organised.

I can’t wait to finally bin my old, manky make up bag, and find the perfect wall mirror and stool to go with it!

What do you think? Do you have a dressing table at home? If so, what is it like?

What a beautiful shape and love the wooden legs! I’ve just bought a dressing table, the staple Malm one from IKEA. It’s not my first choice but as one day we’ll be changing our bedroom again I didn’t want to spend loads of money on it. Love all your little finishing touches and keep resisting that TV! X #HomeEtc

White an walnut is one of my favourite colour combinations. In fact, it kinda looks like you stole that dressing table from my house 😉 Such a fab piece of furniture x

Wow it’s beautiful! I love the white / darkish wood combination. I’m a big fan of wood too though especially like it contrasts against a different surface. #HomeEtc

I LOVE this Becky!!! I’ve always wanted a dressing table — ever since my Sindy was bought one!! Love this — so contemporary. The wood/walnut combo is gorgeous. Would almost work as a console table in a hall too xx #HomeEtc

Oh I love this! It’s so neat and everything has a place. I’m still living your uni days with my makeup and a freebie blogging conference bag, by the side of my bed x x
