My Three in July

I don’t always join in with ‘siblings’ each month, as sometimes I haven’t managed to get any decent pics of Freddie and Sasha together, but how could I not join in this month when I have the first snaps of my siblings as a threesome?!

As many of you know, baby Arlo arrived on the 27th June, and we are all smitten with him- so far he really is the sweetest natured little chap, and (so far) has slotted in well to our family.

As a baby and doll-mad little girl, Sasha thinks all her Christmases have come at once having a real-life baby brother to look after, although we have to keep telling her to not keep shoving a dummy in his mouth every time he makes a noise, and that he is allowed to just have a little cry sometimes! She loves cuddling, kissing and holding him at every opportunity, and I’m relieved that she’s taken to him so well, as having been the ‘baby’ for 5 years I was worried she might feel a little jealous. Thankfully, so far so good!

Freddie has been a little less smothering of his baby brother, but he adores him nevertheless, and has been really helpful- fetching nappies or wipes and giving him a big hello kiss and cuddle when he’s arrived home from school. He hasn’t been quite so bothered about holding him all the time, and isn’t quite so natural with it as his sister is- there have been a few times when Arlo has nearly become a cropper when F has suddenly been distracted, which has made me a little nervous!

The children have been fantastic, but I must admit that I’m suddenly aware of the juggle of 3 children with different needs and have felt guilty the past few days that I’m not giving the older two the attention they deserve, and getting a bit crabby with them at bedtime as I’m so tired. I guess this will get better as time goes on though, and when Arlo gets into more of a routine. I’m looking forward to, and feeling nervous about the summer holidays in equal measure- relieved at the slower pace of life for several weeks at a time we need it most (no clubs, or rushing around for the school run), but anxious about keeping everyone happy and entertained for 6 weeks when I know F and S love ‘doing’ stuff, and when they have also developed excellent winding-each-other-up skills.

I’m sure we’ll all survive though, and right now I’m really going to focus on my little (well, not so little now) family and making sure everyone is happy and has their needs met, as well slowing down and looking after and being kind to myself when we’ve had a more sleepless night.

Roll on the holidays with these three gorgeous little people!

Congratulations on the new addition to the family. What gorgeous children. We’re three weeks into our summer holiday with a 4yo and a new baby (though not quite as new as yours – he’s 3 months ‘already’). It is tricky to keep the older one entertained, but I think everyone is still enjoying the slower pace and just hanging out with each other for the first time. And being kind to yourself is definitely important! Hope you have a nice 6 weeks x #thesiblingsproject
