My Pregnancy Style

When I found out that I was pregnant again last year, and after finding out that everything was okay at the 12 week scan, my thoughts (extremely shallowly, I admit!), turned to sorting out my wardrobe for my ever-expanding waistline.

I remember wearing the same handful of maternity items from H&M and Topshop throughout my pregnancies with Freddie and Sasha, and by the time Sasha was born I felt like burning them (I didn’t). This time, I was determined to have a stylish-yet-comfortable maternity wardrobe that I could go to, with a variety of clothes to take me from winter, through to spring and ultimately ending in summer.

Well, unfortunately once more, time and funds appears to have hindered this ideal. Aside from purchasing 3 pairs of maternity jeans (again, Topshop and H&M do the best) and some maternity dungarees from ASOS, I have either been borrowing clothes from friends, or frankly, wearing (and no doubt, stretching) my usual T-shirts. I’ve been lucky in that this seems to have done a job so far, but now I’ve got to the annoying point where I really do need to buy some maternity clothes, especially summer ones as we are off on holiday next weekend, yet it seems such a waste of money when I only have a couple of months left to go. And especially since all going well, this will be out last baby and I won’t get to use the clothes again.

As a result, I’m trying to write a list of what I deem to be good fashion investments for this summer, even if I don’t get to wear them again next year. After all, if baby arrives end of June, my tummy and wobbly bits aren’t going to snap back straight away, so I’ll want forgiving T-shirts, dresses and maternity shorts probably right up until the weather changes into Autumn.

So far my day-to-day pregnancy ‘uniform’ when I’m working from home has largely remained unchanged. It tends to revolve around skinny jeans/dungarees, a sweatshirt or jumper and a pair of trainers from my ridiculously large collection (must cut down on these, must Kondo!). I like to buy slightly larger, baggier sweatshirts anyway, so these have served me well as my bump expands. Oh, and accessorizing is my friend! Necklaces, jackets, bright lipstick- anything that doesn’t scream “pregnancy frump!”.

With the above in mind and the fact I’m getting slightly sick of my pregnancy wardrobe, I’d love to hear your maternity style tips and tricks.

Where do you shop? What are your pregnancy style must-haves? What would you include/how many items in your summer pregnancy wardrobe?

I’d love to know!

ASOS…there’s always a sale on maternity clothes! Also New Look – of all places – had a surprisingly good range when I was pregnant (maternity versions of all the trend stuff) and it’s really cheap x

Aaah you look SO good!! Pregnancy really suits you darling!! When I was pregnant with the boys, a lot of my stuff came from H&M but I had a pair of Dorothy Perkins over bump jeans that I literally lived in. Dotty Ps have some fab maternity clothes — I loved all their tops and frocks.
