Siblings – January

012 015013

This is a big month for these two sibling-wise. Sasha started her first days at preschool with Freddie this week, joining him for 2 afternoons, and then they both do one morning together. She is doing well so far, and we’ve been especially proud of how F has looked after his little sister- showing her where her peg is and how to hang up her coat, where the toilets are, and introducing her to his friends. When I came to pick them both up at the end of their Monday session, Freddie ran up excitedly to me and said “I helped Sasha wipe her bottom, but I couldn’t pull her trousers up!”. That’s true brother/sister love for you eh?!

Apart from the one or two daily scraps over toys/what’s going on the telly/who does or does not have their teeth cleaned first, they are getting on really well. It’s now much easier for us in terms of them entertaining themselves, and each other- I feel a bit of a spare part sometimes! Now they will go off and play with their Peppa figures and make up all sorts of imaginary games for ages, which is really great to see (and the stuff they come up with is bizarre! There’s no lack of imagination in this household!). They are also getting better at sharing and taking turns.

It has been really quite challenging at times with a 15 month age gap, but now having one so small is starting to pay off and it really feels like having twins a lot of the time, in terms of their shared interests and ability to properly play with each other now. Would I recommend it? Yes, but it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted, or for lovers of sleep!

haha. I massively agree, our youngest are 16 months apart and it was flipping hard work for the first year, it’s starting to get easier, and I am excited for the stage that you are at now. I love these pictures especially the middle one where you can see their cheeky grimaces #siblings

Oh man they are cute. My oldest two were just 18 month apart and at 8 and 7 now it continues to get better and better. They still share a room and very close although they make out that they don’t like each other when they have friends around ha x

Thanks lovely, I don’t want to wish the time away but I can imagine how cool it’s going to be the older they get- I always think 6-10 is a lovely age 🙂 xx

They are Donna, although this one was pretty rubbish as it is so safety PC and soooooooo slow… bring back the ones that go a million miles per hour and where every jump on it runs the risk of snapping an ankle! 😉 I jest (a bit!) 😉 x

Awww they look so happy and adorable together. Completely agree with you on the age gap, mine are 18 months apart and though the first year was the hardest thing i’ve ever done, now that they are both older and more understanding of one another, it’s so much more fun! xxx #siblings

Aah great minds think alike – it must be the month for roundabouts! And these are gorgeous pictures, they look so happy together. My littlest age gap is 20 months (Elma to Pip) but even the bigger 26 month gap is starting to become smaller as Elma gets bigger and bigger so I can only imagine how it’s shrinking for you – and gosh isn’t it lovely when they play together!

Oh look at those big beamy grins, so cute. I have 19 months between and we are often asked when out and about if they are twins… I’m definitely glad we had a small gap because I think they both get so much out of it. Thanks so much for linking up with Siblings. x
